Whatever.
Saw HBP at a drive-in last weekend. Saturday night, with the back-drop of a dark gray sky and the occasional shock of lightning crawling through the clouds. It was fitting.
Overall I thought the movie continuity was pretty good. The FX were pretty snazzy, and I really loved the memories in the bowl. Seeing kid!Moldypants, then teen!Moldypants...I liked those parts muchly.
As for the things brought to the forefront - I felt that HBP should have been darker. Perhaps the stupid romances that were really spotlighted distracted me too much to notice the darkness, but I really don't think so-I've accepted the fact that Rowling took the easy way out. Whatever. Hermione and Harry's friendship is just...it's MORE than friendship when they comfort each other the way they do - and Hermione with the birds...sitting on the steps and Harry coming out to sit with her...the emptiness in my head was just mind boggling. I felt like there was whistling in my head and it could have echoed I was so detached from the fact that I love HarryHermione. I'm severely dissatisfied with the way the romances are handled, but whatever works for them.
I enjoyed the moments with Dumbledore and Harry. Seeing the way Dumbledore is portrayed, seeing the way he speaks to Harry...the manipulation...the way Harry is just so ready to step up when Dumbledore calls him to.
Anyway, I think it's worth a watch. I really liked the FX of the whole thing - it seemed well put together (to me, the inexperienced general population type person).
BUT OH MAN!! Tom Felton in that poster with the other villians? In the subway station? EGADS he looks so HOT in that SUIT...I mean...GUH!
GUH! Tom Felton just looked really good in this movie, and he did well...pretty well. A bit more screen time than usual, which I liked. Snape can do all he wants with me...that voice of his. The way he can say so much with just his eyes, his expression - the hooded malice in his eyes. Give me shivers...I need to find him reading poetry. I know he's done it. I want some of that stuff. Gah.
What else can I say about the movie? I liked it. I did. Felt it should be darker, but given the time it's given as a whole, they did sufficiently well. Pretty good execution. It's way cool on a big ole screen with the stars twinkling above you, too. :)
