Oh, the Journey

Husband bought us a new thing! The old microwave was one he bought second hand some 20 years ago and it still had a UK plug with an adapter on it. It worked, but the manual had been lost to the mists of time before Husband got it, so there were all these functions and things in it (probably) that we never used because who knows what they even were. It was okay for just heating food or heating up some frozen peas or something like that. And custard. Let's not forget custard. Then the light in it broke, which made custard making an affair that required a carefully placed workshop lamp and an otherwise darkened kitchen so that you could keep an eye on it in there. It was kind of annoying, but Husband was stubborn, because it still worked. It was perfectly usable for what we used it for.

Then he discovered that these days you can get these fancy combinations, and that made him surrender. This thing can do microwave AND convection oven AND air frying. And it's got a manual. We already have an oven, but we didn't have an air fryer and weren't interested in getting one on its own really. It's just another appliance that we might find we didn't really need. But in combination with something else? That's a lot more attractive. Husband tried to use it for cooking frozen chips, which turned out very well but probably should would have benefitted even more from having had a little bit longer. Currently, trying to use it still feels like a bit of a science experiment.

Of course he did set the clock in it, so I expect we'll get a power outage in the next few weeks. Never seemed to fail whenever I set the clock in the old one. Eventually I just stopped bothering.


Other recent news, that car has been removed earlier this week! \o/ Whether it had anything at all to do with our attempts to report it is unknown, or if it was the owner of it actually getting around to removing/rescuing it. Who knows? Who cares? It's gone.
