Whatever.

Saw HBP at a drive-in last weekend. Saturday night, with the back-drop of a dark gray sky and the occasional shock of lightning crawling through the clouds. It was fitting.

Overall I thought the movie continuity was pretty good. The FX were pretty snazzy, and I really loved the memories in the bowl. Seeing kid!Moldypants, then teen!Moldypants...I liked those parts muchly.

As for the things brought to the forefront - I felt that HBP should have been darker. Perhaps the stupid romances that were really spotlighted distracted me too much to notice the darkness, but I really don't think so-I've accepted the fact that Rowling took the easy way out. Whatever. Hermione and Harry's friendship is just...it's MORE than friendship when they comfort each other the way they do - and Hermione with the birds...sitting on the steps and Harry coming out to sit with her...the emptiness in my head was just mind boggling. I felt like there was whistling in my head and it could have echoed I was so detached from the fact that I love HarryHermione. I'm severely dissatisfied with the way the romances are handled, but whatever works for them.

I enjoyed the moments with Dumbledore and Harry. Seeing the way Dumbledore is portrayed, seeing the way he speaks to Harry...the manipulation...the way Harry is just so ready to step up when Dumbledore calls him to.

Anyway, I think it's worth a watch. I really liked the FX of the whole thing - it seemed well put together (to me, the inexperienced general population type person).

BUT OH MAN!! Tom Felton in that poster with the other villians? In the subway station? EGADS he looks so HOT in that SUIT...I mean...GUH!

GUH! Tom Felton just looked really good in this movie, and he did well...pretty well. A bit more screen time than usual, which I liked. Snape can do all he wants with me...that voice of his. The way he can say so much with just his eyes, his expression - the hooded malice in his eyes. Give me shivers...I need to find him reading poetry. I know he's done it. I want some of that stuff. Gah.

What else can I say about the movie? I liked it. I did. Felt it should be darker, but given the time it's given as a whole, they did sufficiently well. Pretty good execution. It's way cool on a big ole screen with the stars twinkling above you, too. :)

I think I'll have to see this movie if only for the fact that Tom Felton looks so hot in the promos, lol. Good to know it's at least watch-able for us H/Hr shippers :)

PS. Oh, and I've always said that I didn't get why the director kept saying that this movie was going to be like sex & rock & roll, since for me HBP is one of the (if not the most) darkest books in the series.

It absolutely IS the darkest book. I mean, the last book is...sad, disheartening, etc - but there was tons of comic relief, Dumbledore's brother...Ron being a stupid prat (when is he ever NOT a stupid prat). Hermione provided some comedy, along with of Harry being *so* observant...

But yes - Tom Felton looks good. Real good. The suits he wears, the way he's perfected those sharp degrading stares...

but the sex and rock&roll? What?? LOL - go watch it babe. The H/G scenes are horrendous, but Ginny is good in her own rite. She does a good job of acting. Harry wanting her though is just...so wrong. Anyway. Go watch it. *nods*

Snape was so very, very much win. I've not been particularly into Rickman as Snape (Rickman himself being hells YES, just... wasn't really feeling it? je ne sais pas), but here? Damn. Just damn, especially by the end.

Kind of liked the way that Harry and Hermione were all "we can be close without being all guhhhhhhhhhh over each other," but then again, am not particularly fond of the romance-romance aspect, anyway, so y'knowwwww... >.> At least that-there felt, y'know, more natural or somesuch and not all MAN WE ARE HAVING <3-TIME BECAUSE WE ARE TEENAGERS YEAH YEAH :D

Wheeeeeeeeeyeah.

I'm always comforted by reviews like yours about the movie. It's good to know that there's something there amidst the soup of bad pairings. But like I've always said, I really LIKED booked six if it hadn't been for all the romantic nonsense. I'm still reluctant to see the movie, but at least I know it won't be horrible.

It's not horrible. And there's good enough eye candy. Just avert your eyes and strike up conversation with the people beside you. No one should have to tolerate that romance crap.

Book six was pretty darn good. Incredibly dark, but good. We learn more of the important plot stuff so, yeah. I recommend it. I especially love seeing the memories. The way they were portrayed in the film is pretty cool.

I love the H/Hr parts in this movie but I don't ship them. Ok maybe a tiny, tiny bit. They are adorable. Malfoy grew on me a lot in this movie. Tom Felton had such a big part and I loved it. There were parts I didn't like because I knew they were different from the book or cut from or added to the movie but other than that, it was good.

I agree, very much. And just come out with it! Ship them! I didn't reread the book before seeing the movie, but I used to do exactly that. I was dissatisfied with the last book on the romance part, but I did like the overall book. It was action packed, comedic, drunk guys kept hitting on Hermione, and Harry always makes me just laugh at his honesty anyway, but finally seeing Felton get a chance to show his skills? Very cool. As for changes made in the movie? It always happens. I've succumbed to the fact that things are altered in order to stay within that 'perfect movie time'. Whatever it may be.

I hope this whole reply made sense...got long. lol

hahaha - you should just ship them. It's so HHr. Until Rowling decided, oh no, Harry wants to love a girl that eerily resembles his mother.

YUCK. Anyway, YES, Felton and Rickman are so great in this one. I just love them. The shoe-tying? Just messed up. It's like the new sign of 'I want to blow you' or something. GROSS!
