So disappointing.
Nov. 4th, 2008 11:08 pmI just posted this comment at someone's LJ, but can't help to reiterate here.
All I keep thinking is, 'what has he actually done to get so much support from people?' And the answer is still the same, He's done nothing but give fancy speeches. Just look at his record.
This article says just a few snippets of the truth, while grandly introducing the new President. But these phrases caught my attention:
Overnight he became a sought-after surrogate campaigner, and he had scarcely settled into his Senate seat when he began preparing for his run for the White House.
And he had scarcely settled into his Senate seat - now remind me - what did he do in the Senate? Did he do anything before standing right up and starting to campaign for Presidency?
Said Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California: "Tonight the American people have called for a new direction. They have called for change in America."
Change, right? As in, the guy who 'scarcely settled into his Senate seat' will be creating this change? Besides uniting a people after giving a charismatic speech?
I'll support him as our President, because that's what I have to do as a citizen of this great nation. I will support him, and I hope beyond anything that he can actually act on his words, because they were very fancy words - but if he doesn't, how many years will that be of disappointment then? 12? Disappointing.
