Let's post about frivolous, fun, mindless but enjoyable television!
This is nearly a week late. But I just finished watching S1x10. Last Wednesday's episode, 11/18/09.
I didn't like the first half. Rachel crushing on Schuester, and then Emma sitting in on their ballad practice. They both ended up falling for him even harder and it made me really uncomfortable. It's sad, and especially with the climax of Schuester and Emma having to part ways (2-3 episodes ago) because she's 'engaged' to whatshisface...well, I figure the show has backed off of that storyline because the fans have already climbed aboard to enjoy Glee for it's slightly 'High School Musical'esque roots, but is still better because it's TV!edgeI obviously made that up but Glee is just 10x better than high school musical because it IS.
moving on...
Mercedes' talk with Puck was interesting. I don't know how to process it, Quinn had a choice in the matter too, and it's unfair to Finn most because he's taking on a responsibility that he doesn't need to, but he doesn't know that - that's part of the basis of the show, too. Finn is a main character, along with Schuester, and Finn is clueless - and stupid, but he's still cute in his simple bravery, ...and stupid. But I'm not sure if I like how Mercedes just went on and said that. Puck could do something about it too, but...well, I figure Puck still wants to be friends with Finn, or maybe he's purely showing some type of loyalty to Quinn by keeping quiet. It's decided. I'm holding this all on Quinn. It's done.
The schmaltzy 'Lean on Me' performance was touching, incredibly sappy but nice to see that Puck did participate, and that the group seems to really be coming together. I'm very glad Suzy Pepper set Rachel straight. I love the actress that played Pepper, seriously - how old is she??
Now as for Kurt's love for Finn. I doubt the show will keep it going any further than it has, but maybe they'll surprise me. I'd be pleased, but I don't expect it.
Overall, I enjoyed the show because I viewed it in sections and was able to (mostly) forget what happened in the first half, but still. /squick
**Got glee icons now, and I am quite pleased with them. :D
